Mascara caked lashes,
a blemish free face,
What's really underneath it all?
Maybe a girl just trying to find her place.
She tries to hide what she really feels
by cutting others down.
Slitting, crumpling,
and ripping their hearts,
to gain a superficial crown.
A crown which brings in itself
no deep satisfaction,
no constant reward.
yet something so many long for,
and little can afford.
For later in life,
it proves nothing but shame.
Just a few dusty pictures,
maybe a trophy or two,
with only yourself to blame.
